Ben Daniels, a journalist, is the newest tenant to the building having recently moved into the apartment on the third floor。 Moving from England to Paris and arranged for him by Nick (the nice guy), an old university friend who has lived on the second floor since moving to Paris himself after leaving his failing start-up company behind in America。The first floor is occupied by Antoine (the drunk), whose wife has recently left him。 The fourth floor holds Mimi (a girl on the verge) and her flatmate Camille – young and beautiful。 The penthouse is retained by the wealthy Meuniers。 Sophisticated and snooty Sophie (the socialite) and her husband Jacques, a refined wine merchant。 And then there is The Concierge (a concierge), an ageing woman who lives in a dilapidated lodge at the back of the building and has been there for years, invisible but always lurking in the background and always watching。Back in England, Jess is having some trouble at work and needs to make a speedy retreat。 She calls her brother, Ben, and begrudgingly, he agrees to let her stay with him in his Paris apartment。 But, when Jess arrives, her brother is nowhere to be found! As Ben’s sudden disappearance is beginning to look more and more worrying and less and less is adding up – Jess begins to ask questions but finds the other residents less than friendly or helpful for that matter。Not being able to speak much French (not wanting the funky music to do the talking), and not knowing another person in Paris, Jess doesn’t know who to turn to, or who to trust。 Everyone around her seems hostile and she feels like she is being watched- and is that noise in the background of Ben’s final voice message to her? Despite the uphill battle, Jess is determined to find out the truth, but in doing so, she may be in more danger than she realises。 There are many dark secrets at stake and people willing to do whatever it takes to keep those secrets from being brought into the light。“What the actual fuck?”- Jess DanielsI was lucky enough to be gifted the audiobook to listen to and once I hit play, I just couldn’t stop listening! I was done within a day and was quite sad when it finished。 I loved the writing (as I always do with Lucy Foley) It was an immersive slow burn, filled with suspense and so much fun to read – well, listen to。 On that note, the narrators were absolutely excellent and really added to the Parisian vibe with accents and translations scattered throughout the book。 I know authors have their books translated into many different languages – and I’m not quite sure how they will manage to translate this one to French – with the French translations already within the story。 Anyway, I digress – the narrators; Clare Corbett, Daphne Kouma, Julia Winwood, Sope Dirisu, Sofia Zervudachi and Charlie Ansom were awesome! Highly recommend the audiobook for this one!! The book was mainly narrated by Jess but had multiple POVs – mainly the residents of the building and little snippets from Ben himself。 The book held major Agatha Christie vibes for me and I definitely got the feel of Riley Sager’s Lock Every Door too。This is the third Lucy Foley book that I’ve read, and I previously loved her other two books; The Hunting Party and The Guest List。 I’d been hoping that I would get this book after requesting it on Netgalley and actually let out a little whoop when I saw the email confirming it was available on my account, so I am really very grateful to the author and Harper Collins UK for my gifted copy to review via Netgalley。 Due to be released 3rd March 2022 – one not to be missed!Five awesome whodunit stars 💫My blog⤵️https://emmasbookreviewsonline。wordpr。。。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 This was my first Lucy Foley novel and I enjoyed it! It is more of a slow burn investigation rather than a thriller so once you get past that it’s pretty good。 It was like playing Clue and trying to put all the pieces together。 There were quite a few characters to keep up with and at times you literally suspect every single one of them which I did love! I will definitely be reading more from Foley in the future! 。。。more

This had potential but I just couldn't get into the full cast narration of a story about a woman going to her half-brother's Paris apartment only to find him missing。 What happened to Ben?? Are his neighbors friends or foes?? We slowly unravel the mystery of where/what happened to Ben over the course of this book, told from multiple POVs。 I was optimistic for an edge of your seat thriller but honestly I was bored more than I was thrilled。 A miss for me unfortunately。 Much thanks to NetGalley and This had potential but I just couldn't get into the full cast narration of a story about a woman going to her half-brother's Paris apartment only to find him missing。 What happened to Ben?? Who can she trust?Where is Ben? 💭Thoughts:The Paris Apartment is told from the multiple POV's of Jess and some of key residents of the apartment building, providing us with glimpses into their lives and the secrets they are hiding。 One of my favourite aspects of this books is the way the Apartment building became a character in and of itself。 As Jess explores the hidden corners of the building, a lurking sense of intrigue remained throughout the story。 Someone is always watching。。。The midway reveal had me absolutely stunned, I had not been expecting that at all 👏。 With the suspense and tension continuing to boil as Jess uncovers more of the apartments kept secrets, making for a page turning conclusion。 Thank you to Netgally and Harper Collins for this e-ARC copy of the Paris Apartment which drops in Aus on on 3rd March 2022。⭐⭐⭐⭐💫4。5 STARS 。。。more

Knowledge is power until it becomes a threat。 If I’m honest, I went into this one ambivalent。 (I wasn’t all that keen on The Guest List。) But it’s Foley, and everyone loves her work。 (Honestly, I was also having major FOMO。) So I decided to give her another try。 And boy am I glad I did!! From the very beginning, I was lured into 12 Rue des Amants and all of its secrets。 In The Paris Apartment, Foley has perfected the formula for the locked room mystery。 The residence is grand and full of mystique with an atmosphere that is tense and full of foreboding。 The characters are complex and cagey。 Full of secrets and full of motives! Everyone is a suspect。And the unveiling of the mystery…perfectly paced。 Clues were revealed while keeping me enrapt and guessing。 And at the end, when I was sure, very sure, I knew what had transpired…the biggest of twists revealed how closely Foley played her hand。 This book made me miss the streets of Paris。 But it made me wary of what’s behind those beautiful facades。 The audiobook is an exceptional addition to the print book。 Narrated by a full cast, it adds to the intrigue while giving the characters a distinct voice。 However, with so much going on in the story, I might shy away from using the audiobook singularly。 Many thanks to William Morrow and Harper Audio for this #gifted advanced copy to read and review。 。。。more

My third book by Lucy Foley。 Maybe the most complex one and I like that all the things were reveling one by one at the end。 I was glad the main character went on after all happened there。 What happend in Paris stay in Paris? dnf 10%。。。this is a joke right? this book is so bad it's just bad。 no subtlety (with characters telling us exactly what they are like in the first few lines of their being introduced: eg。 'i don't like change', 'i remember things')。 also, puah-lease。 i am done with french characters by english speaking authors。 just stop it okay。 whoever decided that the narrators for the audiobook should speak with a fake french accent should be be fired (joking of course)。 but really, i absolutely hate it when dnf 10%。。。this is a joke right? this book is so bad it's just bad。 no subtlety (with characters telling us exactly what they are like in the first few lines of their being introduced: eg。 'i don't like change', 'i remember things')。 also, puah-lease。 i am done with french characters by english speaking authors。 just stop it okay。 whoever decided that the narrators for the audiobook should speak with a fake french accent should be be fired (joking of course)。 but really, i absolutely hate it when a film is set in a non-english speaking country (but is made by and for an english audience) and they will have the (often english) actors speak in an affected english (they are meant to be speaking in their native tongue, the english bit requires our suspension of disbelief but why then add a silly accent?!)。 anyway, this is a trashy 'thriller' and i do not have the patience for it。 。。。more

I really like how Lucy Foley manages to take a seemingly basic whodunnit story and put her own fresh spin on it。 I don’t think that’s an easy thing to do, especially in such an over saturated market but whenever I finish one of her books I’m always left thinking that she is clever。This one has several viewpoints and also a multi narrated cast and each narrator was so good。 Listening to the audio made for such an immersive experience for me, it’s steeped in French culture and hearing the sometime I really like how Lucy Foley manages to take a seemingly basic whodunnit story and put her own fresh spin on it。 I don’t think that’s an easy thing to do, especially in such an over saturated market but whenever I finish one of her books I’m always left thinking that she is clever。This one has several viewpoints and also a multi narrated cast and each narrator was so good。 Listening to the audio made for such an immersive experience for me, it’s steeped in French culture and hearing the sometimes French accents of the characters was chefs kiss。 The apartment complex itself was a character on it’s own and added such a great sense of place and atmosphere that I felt like I was there beside the characters。 It was a bit of a slow burn and towards the middle lost some steam but the ending picked up the pace again and lead to a satisfying conclusion。 Overall a solid thriller for me and definitely one I can recommend。 。。。more

A wonderfully atmospheric setting as protagonist Jess finds herself at a Paris apartment block looking for her brother Ben。 But Ben has disappeared and everyone in the apartment block are fast becoming suspects in his demise。 Can Jess piece together what has happened to Ben and keep herself safe in the process as some very dubious tenants emerge all with their own tales to tell。 Another blistering read from Lucy Foley, I loved the short chapters and the twisty turns that kept rolling through。 Wi A wonderfully atmospheric setting as protagonist Jess finds herself at a Paris apartment block looking for her brother Ben。 But Ben has disappeared and everyone in the apartment block are fast becoming suspects in his demise。 Can Jess piece together what has happened to Ben and keep herself safe in the process as some very dubious tenants emerge all with their own tales to tell。 Another blistering read from Lucy Foley, I loved the short chapters and the twisty turns that kept rolling through。 With lots of very unlikeable characters it was hard to pinpoint who would be the likely suspect and while I did work part of this one out I was completely satisfied with its delivery and the surprises along the way。 A very quick read that will have you flicking pages at a rapid pace to find out just what did happen to Ben。 Get your popcorn ready as this is one you will not want to put down, and it is out on the 3rd March so not long to wait!Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins Australia for this early reading copy, I thoroughly enjoyed it and is one I would definitely recommend。 。。。more

Lucy Foley knows how to masterfully weave together characters in such a twisty way! This multi-POV storyline will keep you guessing to the very end。 The audio is phenomenal--with the support of a full cast to match the tenants in this building。 I loved the mix of accents and the French words/phrases sprinkled throughout, all of it brought the story to life in an engaging way。 I kept playing with the speed, wanting to know how this all played out, yet also not wanting it to end。 The nature of thi Lucy Foley knows how to masterfully weave together characters in such a twisty way! Having already read Lucy Foley’s The Guest List and having absolutely loved the read, I knew what I was getting when I received this ARC。 Mystery, suspense, well developed characters, and a storyline that would keep me guessing until the end and that is exactly what I got in The Paris Apartment。Jess exits England and escapes to her half-brother’s apartment in Paris。 She’s left the U。K。 quickly and with few possessions and even less money。 Jess has done something to which her only response could Having already read Lucy Foley’s The Guest List and having absolutely loved the read, I knew what I was getting when I received this ARC。 Mystery, suspense, well developed characters, and a storyline that would keep me guessing until the end and that is exactly what I got in The Paris Apartment。Jess exits England and escapes to her half-brother’s apartment in Paris。 She’s left the U。K。 quickly and with few possessions and even less money。 Jess has done something to which her only response could be a quick trip out of the country and away from a police enquiry but she’s used to living on the edge。 But where is her brother? The story begins with what happened to her brother and ends with Jess, and us, finally finding out the truth。 The story in between is complicated and twisted which is just what a good suspenseful mystery should be。 The cast of characters is what really drew me in with the contrast of very wealthy people and people who have nothing and live on the fringes of the rich people’s world, people who the affluent don’t even acknowledge their existence。Thank you to The Book Club Girls, William Morrow, HarperCollins Publishers and the author Lucy Foley。 #theparisapartment, #lucyfoley 。。。more

I received this as an advanced readers copy。If you enjoy a good thriller this is the book for you。 Lucy Foley tells an intricate tale of Jess searching for her half-brother Ben who disappeared the night she arrived at his Paris apartment。 Told from multiple points of view the reader is allowed into the thoughts of not only Jess, but also Ben's neighbors and suspects in his disappearance。The apartment itself becomes a character in the novel as the reader learns more about it and its own secrets。A I received this as an advanced readers copy。If you enjoy a good thriller this is the book for you。 Lucy Foley tells an intricate tale of Jess searching for her half-brother Ben who disappeared the night she arrived at his Paris apartment。 Told from multiple points of view the reader is allowed into the thoughts of not only Jess, but also Ben's neighbors and suspects in his disappearance。The apartment itself becomes a character in the novel as the reader learns more about it and its own secrets。A great read that will keep you up until the last page。 。。。more

Entertaining, twisty, quick read。 Revelations peeled off like an onion to help one put together the mystery little by little with a final twist at the end。 I do wish there had been a little more character development for Jess, so I could have cared about what happened to her more。 Thanks to Goodreads and the publisher for the ARC。

I wasn’t a fan of The Guest List at all so my expectations weren’t overly high starting The Paris Apartment but I’ve been pleasantly surprised。 If you’ve read Lucy Foley you’ll know what to expect, a classic Agatha Christie style whodunnit。 The story follows a woman who has travelled to Paris on the spur of the moment to stay with her brother, but on arrival she finds his apartment empty。 This book is full of twists and turns and while a few were pretty predictable there were definitely some sur I wasn’t a fan of The Guest List at all so my expectations weren’t overly high starting The Paris Apartment but I’ve been pleasantly surprised。 If you’ve read Lucy Foley you’ll know what to expect, a classic Agatha Christie style whodunnit。 The story follows a woman who has travelled to Paris on the spur of the moment to stay with her brother, but on arrival she finds his apartment empty。 This book is full of twists and turns and while a few were pretty predictable there were definitely some surprises as well。 The cast of characters are really what makes this book so compelling, from the very beginning you don’t know who to trust。 The writing is nothing exceptional but the plot and characters really grasp your attention, this was one of those books I couldn’t put down。 。。。more
